Hello! (:
I went to the RI Guitar Ensemble concert yesterday, and all I can say is that RI's standard is better than ACS (I)'s, but ACS (I) is better in terms of presentation. Let me give you an example. For instance, there were technical difficulties. Many, I stress. Then the performers were sipping Milo and drinks from MacDonalds' during the show. Not to mention that we had a really rowdy audience at the back. Ok.
The CAP AGM was held today at the MOE campus at Grange Road, and there we watched parts of this year's concert. Our Percussion performance actually looked quite decent on screen, can't believe we progressed so much within a week! =) Then we saw the Film section, the one I missed because the staff at UCC held us up. I think the most interesting one was the one on Prata. Totally hilarious, about a group of CAP students escaping the campus, because they were hungry for prata.

Note to the readers: This will be a rather short post, as my exams are coming up soon and I won't be able to update for quite some time. I apologize if the recent posts are getting shorter and shorter, but I will make up for them after my exams. Promise? =)

Baubles-For Natalie
They were round and sparkly,
flecked generously with glitter,
making them look much like coloured gumdrops left in the rain.
But still appealing.
They looked like beach ball and umbrellas and the universe,
especially when they were suspended on the prickly branches of
fir trees at Christmastime.
Under the light, they flourished the best,
(in all their shimmering glory-like disco balls)
tantalizing the innocent young children.
On the outside, they were pretty-colourful-(almost!)-perfect.
* * *
In reality they were hollow.

Hop Like a Kangaroo, Cling Like a Monkey
Cheers everyone!
As usual, the long anticipated (I hope! =) update.
Had the Archery lesson yesterday, and got the second inner circle on my first try! Yay! Then the trainer came along, 'helped me', and I completely missed the circle... -_- 1 and a 1/2 hours wasted, just shooting 10 arrows. Then the surprise activity, that is supposedly free of charge, sponsored by the school. Special shoe things that look something like rollerskates, except it was 2 bent pieces of plastic, (Think: rocking chair) instead. Very unstable. Fell down twice, by hopping over the hurdles on the obstacle course. Then the activity OFFICIALLY ended.
Took the bus back, clung like a monkey onto the pole, because it was very crowded. Well, there you have it. The motivation behind the title, and the story of yesterday. (:
Right now, I'm multitasking; updating, studying for Science, and preparing for Tuesday's interclass debate. Speaking of which, it's 2 SE VS. 2 GR, the motion is THW negotiate with terrorists. Ying ying's doing first, I'm second, and Yi Ann's third. Go SE! (:

Blackout
When I close my eyes
When I turn out the light
Blackout.
When I’m left in an abyss of darkness
all by my lonesome self
Blackout.
When the sun goes to bed
When the rain-washes away my strength
Blackout.
When Hope has given up on me
and I on it
Blackout.
When I wasn’t meant to see tomorrow
and the days and months and years after that
Blackout.
Life is full of blackouts.
Irregardless, we ourselves sometimes have to be the ones
who turn on the lights.

Procrastinated. (and) Eliminated.
Hello again! Before I begin, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates. It so happens that I have been, shall we say, addicted to Fanfiction for the past few days, and busy for the remaining, hence the delay. On to the post!
Here are some links:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3427085/1/Stand_and_Watch_It_Burn
(Stand and Watch It Burn is one of my favourite stories, and it's about HP, just in case you were wondering. So read and get hooked!)
http://www.stevencravis.com/
(For Natalie, who admires pianists. It's a series of beautiful songs I stumbled on recently. "Through the Kaleidoscope" and "The Shining Star" are awesome!)
Though there's no common test tomorrow, I still have to complete 2 weeks' worth of Musical Theory homework (*gasp*), so I'm afraid this is where I leave you, for this post.
But fret not, for The Charlatan will return! (:

I want to find out what’s going on

but this Shell…
it encases me
in my own little world
like a bird without wings
I yearn to soar
take flight
break free of this Invisible Barrier
but I cannot
for I am only
a bird without wings
the Plastic Bubble safeguards me
but it also restricts me
I am a bird without wings
doomed never to fly
flying.
high
higher
even higher…
and like a bird without wings
I make a strangled cry
then crash, slowly, onto the
Ground.

Of Challenges and Clinical Checkups (Note the Alliteration)
Hi again!
I apologize for the lack of updates recently, but it was because I was really, truly busy. Hmm... Let's see what I have been up to in the past few days...
Wednesday 1/8-Went to the Polyclinic to do my asthma review and see a doctor about my knee problem, then got referred to KK Hospital. Came back at around 6+.
Thursday 2/8-Went to KK Hospital for my checkup, found out that I had to come back for a review and go for physiotherapy. Came back at 6+, nearly 7. Brilliant, right? The 'fun' things never stop.
Friday 3/8-Went to ACS (I) for a concert and came back at 10+.
See? Therefore, I cannot be blamed for the lack of updates. =)
During yesterday's recess, Ms Sie called for a meeting and we kind of finalized the details on the book. So far, we have decided on:
a) Writing poems on whatever we want (instead of for the visually handicapped)
b) Recording our voices when we read our poems onto an audio CD (since the visually handicapped prefer listening)
c) Writing a short autobiography (before our poems)
d) Having our 'candid' pictures above our autobiography, and
e) Having a 'profound' quote, thought up by the Prof. (of course)
That's about it for now.
Anyways, I found out that our school has a long way to improve, in terms of visual asthetics, when I visited ACS (I) yesterday. They have a soccer field (which we don't have), statues (which we also don't have), glossy, tiled floors and huge open spaces (sadly, we have neither), and most of all, an Arts' Festival!
I was thinking, why can't we have an Arts' Festival too, especially since our school's niche is in the Arts? I am seriously going to raise it as a suggestion at the end of the year; SC without an Arts' Fest. just doesn't seem right!

Scars-For Dilys
Half moon marks dug deep into pale, pearly skin.
Crimson liquid leaked out of the many orifices.
Splattered by heavier, resounding drops.
Typical.
Grieve and mourn.
Live and let live.
And so we move on.
Scars are not signs of the weak.
They are the markings of the brave, the heroic.
of those who fought, but perished,
of those who survived, but just barely.
They show the paths in our lives
the wrong turns we took
and the choices Destiny made for us.
Scars.

Examinable Tests and Subjects to the Power of Infinity
Hi again! I apologise for the extremely long delay, but I really, really had no choice. I had so many tests crammed into the past week, and just finished my Science practical today. Very very sorry!
Now that the apologies are done with, let's start off this post with my description of today's killer practical. Firstly, the spatula for scooping some unknown black-ish powder came late, so coupled with my horrible aiming skills, fell right onto my test paper. Which happened to be white. So. But before I move on to my next complaint, let me clarify something. Ammonium salt releases ammonia upon heating, right? Horrible, terrible me with no common sense decided to take a whiff of the gas from the heated solid, ammonium salt. For all you readers out there, let me tell you this: Do Not Follow In My Footsteps!!! (Or you shall perish from the sheer pungency of it)
I digress. Thirdly, and fortunately, lastly, the test for glucose. You know that you are supposed to pour an equal amount of the Benedict's solution and the unknown substance. But no. Little me poured the entire bottle of the unknown sample, together with a few drops of the Benedict's solution. No colour change in the water bath. Miraculously, the minute I took the test tubes out, it started changing colour, which shows that Fate is fickle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since you've been such good, patient readers, I am delighted to announce that I shall be posting 2 poems today! Yay!
The first poem is one I wrote before Debate yesterday, on the 24/7.
The second one was written ~2 weeks ago during Art, before the famed Excel Fest.
Enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Terminated
Today when I woke up, the sky was blue.
It wasn’t a light, sapphire blue,
nor was it a deep, melancholic blue.
It was the kind of blue that made you want to think, forever.
And so I thought and thought.
I turned mountains into the bluest of blues,
and shaped petals into blues.
I thought up seas and seas of blue thoughts,
accompanied by blue whales, sea-deep seashells,
wavy palms, and fluffy white clouds,
their light-hearted airiness hanging distractedly about them today.
I admired the horizon, then thought myself a shimmering bluebird
and plunged recklessly into
seas.
Unable to swim, I flailed myself wildly around, as though
looking for a lifeguard.
But there were none.
So I drowned in an eternity of cries, pleas and blue worlds.

Artful Aesthetics-For Lynette Lim, for sharing my sentiments on the double period Art. :)
Stuck in Art class
like ice in a glass
watching the clock tick away
and the distant whir of the ceiling fans overhead.
‘Priceless’ paintings and random artwork
proudly plaster the pristine walls
while pottery and handcrafts
cake the outside door.
Students rushing hurriedly about
their shoes utter a slight shuffling sound.
I look on, fascinated,
at the things they do
as they sacrifice precious time
For CIP hours.
Chatter chatter the class won’t keep silent.
High heels resonate on the tiled, ceramic floor.
“Quickly quickly she’s here!”
All of a sudden an unnatural hush
seeps eerily into the air
Waiting.
Waiting.
Just waiting.
And then the teacher arrives,
cloaked in all the resplendent glory
of her leopard-print shirt.

Pirouettes of Doom
Hi all!
Today was the day of Ballet, as I like to call it, and I would like to express my deepest admiration for people who can do pirouettes properly, after having to endure a full 15 minutes of prolonged humiliation in class, while spinning around clumsily.
This morning's HC test was a little better than I had anticipated; can only hope that I will attain my desired grade. :) But I shudder at the imminence of next Monday's double period Math test...

I have decided to replace this post's poem with a silly story Natalie, Dilys and I cooked up during the last 1 hour of school. Hope you enjoy it!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Untitled
Once upon a time, there lived an ootoro sushi roll. Unlike other ootoro rolls, it was made of plastic, because it was made in China-country of fake products. But it looked so delicious that Charlotte ate it anyway. Natalie, Queen of the Plastic Objects, had wanted half of the roll, but sadly, received none.
She was devastated and bought herself a real ootoro roll that was made of the freshest imported tuna from Japan, the fluffiest organic American rice and crisp seaweed off the coast of Hokkaido, to cheer herself up. She ate it and decided that it was so good; she had to have a lifetime supply of it. Her mum said no. So she signed up for an “Ootoro Making Course”.
Meanwhile, way across the world, Dilys sat in Gellogrer’s happily chomping down a bowl of Irish stew, washing it down with Guinness. What looked like Guinness was actually hydrogen peroxide mixed with black paint, so the watery substance started to break down once it entered her mouth.
“Charlotte you’re evil!” yelled Dilys as she spat that offending brew out.
Charlotte denied all involvement, and started whipping up another batch of “Toxic Chemical Stew” once Dilys’ back was turned. But Dilys had enough. She stalked out the door and into Dublin in a whirl of clothes.
On the other side of ‘the pond’, Natalie chopped off a finger from mishandling the porcelain sushi knife.
Charlotte smirked evilly; her plan for world dominance was well underway! (:

Sloth is 1 of the 7 Deadly Sins...
Happy happy everyone! XD
Tomorrow, there is no school! Yes! Means can sleep in late!
*Ahem*
Back to the post...
Ok, I really apologize for the lack of updates these few days. As you can see, I've listed part of the reason above. Sloth. According to Wikipedia:
Sloth (Latin, acedia)
Main articles: Sloth (laziness, sadness, apathy)
More than other sins, the definition of Sloth has changed considerably since its original inclusion among the seven deadly sins. It had been in the early years of Christianity characterized by what modern writers would now describe as apathy, depression, and joylessness — the last being viewed as being a refusal to enjoy the goodness of God and the world He created. Originally, its place was fulfilled by two other aspects, Acedia and Sadness. The former described a spiritual apathy that affected the faithful by discouraging them from their religious work. Sadness (tristitia in Latin) described a feeling of dissatisfaction or discontent, which caused unhappiness with one's current situation.
When St. Thomas Aquinas selected Acedia for his list, he described it as an "uneasiness of the mind," being a progenitor for lesser sins such as restlessness and instability. Dante refined this definition further, describing Sloth as being the "failure to love God with all one's heart, all one's mind and all one's soul." He also described it as the middle sin, and as such was the only sin characterised by an absence or insufficiency of love. In his Purgatorio, the slothful penitents were made to run continuously at top speed.
The modern view of the vice, as highlighted by its contrary virtue zeal/diligence, is that it represents the failure to utilize one's talents and gifts. For example, a student who does not work beyond what is required (and thus fails to achieve his or her full potential) could be labelled 'slothful'.
Current interpretations are therefore much less stringent and comprehensive than they were in medieval times, and portray Sloth as being more simply a sin of laziness, of an unwillingness to act, an unwillingness to care (rather than a failure to love God and His works). For this reason Sloth is now often seen as being considerably less serious than the other sins.
Just read the last part... So this means I'm excused? Hopefully =)
Tomorrow will be the day I bravely step up to a microphone and recite 2 pieces of poetry to 5000+ teachers and guests, from 12.15-1.45. Repeat procedure from 4.45-5.15, except it's for VIPs. Think I've already mooned about that.
Today, I came home from school the usual way, thinking about how lucky I am to be alive. Then the first thing I see when I open the door is a dead lizard floating in my fish tank.
Accompanied by my crimson fighting fish, who seems proud of it's feat. I make a mental note never to stick my finger in the water again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You tripped me, so I fell for you."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Because I Don’t Want To Say…”
You just stand there and wave.
Just a little longer, I tell myself
Just a little longer before I can break down and cry.
I don’t want to say I won’t.
Until then.
I stand tall, looking as if nothing ever happened.
I stand proud, facing the untold future courageously.
Because I don’t want to say I’m weak.
The skies cloud.
Now you really are leaving
Leaving Home, Leaving Me.
and I really want to sob my broken heart out.
But I don’t want to say I’m afraid.
So I guess I have to be strong.
For Them, For You.
Wordlessly, almost inconspicuously
I make my gradual retreat into what was Sanctuary.
Then I give in and whimper, silently.
I really don’t want to say, “farewell”.

Lovin' The Lil' Red Dot (and agar gel)
Hi all! =)
Today's Science lesson was held in the (air-conditioned=)Life Science Lab. I had fun stabbing the agar with the micropipette once we finished filling the holes with dye. Honestly, I thought my aim was horrible. I poked through the agar on the first try and it leaked... Sigh...
Anyways, I just learnt today that CPD and Co. have moved to Funan as well! So now it's right opposite Dance Arts, making it extra convenient for me to get my 'Pompies' after class ^_^. (Oh yeah, and I just got my G4 Certificate today too!)
As you readers can probably tell, I have yet to explain what the 'Lil Red Dot' means. I assure you it is not what you think it is.
Well, 'Lil' Red Dot' is a red sponge ball I got last year from one of SPH's competitions. It says "Small in Size, Big on Talent."
Quote time!
"I know karate, kung fu, and 47 other dangerous words."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Incandescent Illumination
Say “cheese”!
The corners of your mouth upturn; a grin that puts the Cheshire cat to shame, showing off sparkling, immaculate teeth. The saffron, floral patterned dress complements milky white skin; a picture of youth and vibrancy in the otherwise gloomy atmosphere. Tension is quickly replaced with light-hearted optimism and a sunflower flavoured cheeriness, accompanied by the occasional clicking and flashing of the camera.
Say “cheese”, sunshine girl!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Incandescent Illumination is proudly dedicated to my friend Natty Wong, as part of a challenge to write something for her, and she in turn for me. It is kind of a prose-poetry thing.

Deadlines+Spray Paint+Tests and Projects=One Ultra-Super Bored Me
...
...
...
As the title proudly proclaims, I am too bored to do anything else. That's right, even the usual pleasures of Fanfiction and GBA games cannot ease the boredom. So I've turned to blogging. Pardon this long and dead post.
Today was spent on tuition, homework, research, more homework and buying spray paints and paint markers for some school scheme to decorate the area outside of the classroom for MOE Excel Fest. And what a total waste of time it was. So much for 07/07/07.
Going straight to the quote...
The feminist in me says:
"When women are depressed, they either eat or go shopping: men invade other countries."
(Another good reason why most men need to go for courses to manage their emotions. =)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pt. IV of the Seasons Saga-Storing Sunny Seasons
Youth personified itself is a wild
unrestrained thing much like
rebellious wildflowers
like the morning’s dew.
Reaching,
Reaching,
Reaching.
Tumbling out to the sky and beyond.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This, as you can probably tell, is the last in the Seasons Saga, on summer. Love it? Hate it? Tell me what you think!

Poetry Mentorship by Professor Edwin Thumboo
Hi again and welcome to my blog! I do apologize for not updating yesterday, but... I had my reasons. Anyways, this is the news. Yesterday marked the start of the mentorship with Professor Edwin Thumboo, and basically, it took up quite a bit of my time, though I have to admit that Ms. Chow was right; his words are like the mornings' dew drops. As such, I have resolved to:
a) Be more serious and pay attention in class,
b) Continue writing and think of ideas/themes for the book!
Today we did poetry discussion and writing poems as a group; the 4 Sec. Ones in one, 5 Sec. Twos in another. I am proud to present our combined masterpiece!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Butter
Yellow pools
and its fluffy creaminess slowly slipping
Fleet through fingers, past kitchen table’s borders
Onto your lap it’s wet.
Your sunslippery fingers all yellow.
Saffron. Like the floral curtains
Staining the senses
Caged between merciless teeth
It glows into a crown
Warm upon the tongue’s head.
By Jesslyn Chee, Lynette Lim, Natalie Wong, Joy Chee and yours truly =)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have one announcement to make, regarding my previous post, Complicated Crescendos. The Subway sandwiches in my school are sold by the prefects, so I do (in a way), owe some of my cheeriness to them, namely Jesslyn and Joy Chee. =)
On to my quote of the day!
"If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pt. III of the Seasons Saga-Stimulated Springy Skittering
Budding flowers sprinkled on never-ending fields
Tame winds reach into my soul.
The soft powdery surface of cherry blossoms
like the pink of flushed cheeks
Wavering,
Wavering,
Wavering.
The ice in my heart is melting.

Complicated Crescendos
... ... ... ...
That's exactly how I feel now. So mnay things to do, yet so little time. Thank goodness for Subway cookies. They always brighten my day. =)
On to my post!
As you can probably tell from the title of this post, I am currently very stressed out. Firstly, my group has to re-do our Literature powerpoint presentation, apparently because it is not good enough. Secondly, I just realised that the deadline for the Integrated Geography-History project is on Friday, 13 July. It just so happens that there is no school that day, because the school is used for the MOE Excel Fest 2007. But surprise, surprise. This brings me to my final stress factor. Guess what? I am supposed to read poetry on that day, to oh I don't know, maybe about ~1000+ teachers, parents and guests? Riight. Absolutely no stress at all.
Before I move on to the poem, I have one quote for all the readers out there. I have decided to include a quote for every post, in my attempt to sound "deep and profound". Here goes:
"If you don't think something small can make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito in your room."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pt. II of the Seasons Saga-Whirlwinded Whiteout Windstorm
Shattered Frost on the windscreen
Cold, sharp daggers of an icy wind
slice the thin air.
Gently, slowly, quietly snow cascades
Falling,
Falling,
Falling.
Ice crystals in my heart.

2nd Day, 2nd Week Back
Hi everyone, I'm back! I'm currently rushing out this post with the spare 15 minutes I have before my piano lesson, so please bear with me. Today was relatively boring. Unless you count Debate, where we watched this film called "Paradise Now". It's about the 'war' between Arabs and Jews, and Arabic suicide bombers, (I think they are noble, to a certain extent. Sacrificing their lives for a cause, is something I admit I will never have the guts to do. ) so I feel that the basic background knowledge is needed to understand the film. But that's just me.
Anyways, I wrote this poem during my Chinese Reading Appreciation lesson, so read and enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part I of the Seasons Saga-Accumulated Acquired Amassed
A shimmering gleam of the sun’s
Rays on ripened grain.
Like the seeds of golden rain, silently
whirling away in the breeze.
Crunch,
Crunch,
Crunch.
Crisp, papery leaves crinkle; the taste of a withered Hope I once knew.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: This was posted last night, but somehow it got into 'Drafts' and so was not published.

Dawn of Spider's Web
Hi everyone! This is my first official post on my new blog! I shall begin by describing "How I Spent Youth Day".
10am-1pm: Went to school for English Film Project
3pm-5pm: Went for dental appointment. I got green braces! I think they're nicer and sparklier than my ol' yellow ones. (Dad says yellow was better...)
5.30pm-6.30pm: Went for ballet class. Only 3 people came today ):
Well, that sums up my boring day. As a parting gift, I will be sharing with you'll one piece of poetry I've written. Enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I Am A Fighting Fish”
I am a newborn fighting fish
Looking at the world through untainted eyes
Seeing it as it is.
I am a strong fighting fish
I want to be a warrior
And defend myself and the ones I love.
I am a brave fighting fish
I fear nothing.
Tears are not mine to shed.
I am an impatient fighting fish
I swish my tail and wait
Waiting for my fated rival.
I am an aggressive fighting fish
I come in from all sides for an attack.
Either leave me be or face the pain.
I am a fighting fish.
Battles are my way of life
But I don’t know what I’ve been fighting for.
