Poetry Mentorship by Professor Edwin Thumboo

Hi again and welcome to my blog! I do apologize for not updating yesterday, but... I had my reasons. Anyways, this is the news. Yesterday marked the start of the mentorship with Professor Edwin Thumboo, and basically, it took up quite a bit of my time, though I have to admit that Ms. Chow was right; his words are like the mornings' dew drops. As such, I have resolved to:

a) Be more serious and pay attention in class,

b) Continue writing and think of ideas/themes for the book!

Today we did poetry discussion and writing poems as a group; the 4 Sec. Ones in one, 5 Sec. Twos in another. I am proud to present our combined masterpiece!

Butter

Yellow pools
and its fluffy creaminess slowly slipping
Fleet through fingers, past kitchen table’s borders
Onto your lap it’s wet.
Your sunslippery fingers all yellow.

Saffron. Like the floral curtains
Staining the senses
Caged between merciless teeth
It glows into a crown
Warm upon the tongue’s head.

I have one announcement to make, regarding my previous post, Complicated Crescendos. The Subway sandwiches in my school are sold by the prefects, so I do (in a way), owe some of my cheeriness to them, namely Jesslyn and Joy Chee. =)

Budding flowers sprinkled on never-ending fields
Tame winds reach into my soul.
The soft powdery surface of cherry blossoms
like the pink of flushed cheeks
